BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Trevor Releford scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists to lead the Alabama men’s basketball team to a 69-52 victory over Oklahoma State in the Legacy Credit Union Holiday Classic at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Arena Wednesday night.

The Crimson Tide opened the game with a 19-4 run before the first media timeout and continued to build the lead in the first half. Oklahoma State tried to make several runs, but Alabama led 40-22 going into the break.

“We’re excited,” UA head coach Anthony Grant said. “I think it was a great effort by our guys and I’m really proud of the effort we gave tonight on both ends of the court. It was a really good win.”

The Cowboys cut into the Tide’s lead in the second half, getting it down to nine points with just under six minutes to play, but they would get no closer and the Tide closed out the game on a 9-2 run to earn the 17-point win.

Junior Tony Mitchell earned a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while freshman Trevor Lacey added 12 points for the Tide.

Next up, Alabama will host Jacksonville Thursday, December 29 at 8 p.m. CT at Coleman Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on CSS.
