TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy named Adam Arbour as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season. Arbour comes to the program from the University of Michigan, where he played on the Wolverine baseball team and was a manager for the softball team.

“We are very fortunate to have Adam on our staff,” Murphy said. “We respect coach (Carol) Hutchins and her staff at Michigan very much and try to emulate their program in many ways. All of us are looking forward to working with Adam.”

Arbour, an Ann Arbor native, was a three-year member of the Michigan baseball team (2007-09). Over that span the Wolverines won two Big Ten championships (2007-08) and a regional title in 2007.

“I am beyond excited to be a part of such an elite program,” Arbour said. “Coach Murphy has established an amazing softball culture here in Tuscaloosa and I am very thankful that he has asked me to jump on board. Coach Murphy, Aly (Alyson Habetz), and Steph (Stephanie VanBrakle) are some of the best minds in the game and I look forward to learning from them and adding value to this program.”

His softball experience comes from his time serving as a student manager for three seasons. Over that span, the Wolverines won three Big Ten titles, two regional championships and made an appearance at the 2009 Women’s College World Series.

Arbour graduated from Michigan in 2011 with a major in physical education. He has also coached ASA level teams from 16 and under up to gold. He comes from athletic family that includes parents Ed (baseball) and Julie (volleyball), who were student-athletes at Eastern Michigan, father also played baseball at Washtenaw CC and uncle, Dan, played football at WMU.
