The 23-year-old Atlanta native, Summer Walker recently released her second album, Over It, with features from Bryson Tiller, Usher, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jhené Aiko and more. The album consists of 18 songs totaling in about 48 minutes of straight bops! This R&B album definitely goes back and forth between love, frustration, anger, and sadness but in all the right ways.

The album also includes her hit song “Girls Need Love Too” Remix with Drake which was also featured on her last album Last Day Of Summer, but honestly it is so good I don’t blame her for putting it on both. It seems that Summer wrote this album in the process of healing from a breakup. She goes back and forth with herself between songs  such as “Over It” with lyrics such as “Am I really that much to handle?” and “Fun Girl” saying “You said I wasn’t made right” almost feeling bad for herself because of his actions she follows those lyrics in “Fun Girl” saying “Is it because I know what I want just like you? Because I make my own money and own rules?” Contradicting the sadness with the attitude of you can not blame me for being independent and being able to make decisions and live my life based on how I want to.

The energy Summer radiates throughout the album is very strong and relatable because although she goes back and forth with her thoughts and feeling a bit sorry for herself she also recognizes who she is and that she does not need to put up with the nonsense she was dealing with and what she brings to the table.

The album was executively produced by London on da Track which he did an amazing job overall with the album. Each beat went along with each song and the story it was trying to portray. Especially in tracks like “Fun Girl” where the music feels so real and raw as if she is just sitting in the room with you crying and talking about her situation. “Drunk Dialing… DLOT” is actually dedicated to London who the artist relates to especially both coming from Atlanta.

Overall, Summer Walker hit the head on the nail when describing the usual rollercoaster of emotions woman goes through when believing they are over a situation or trying to act as if they are. Over It by Summer Walker is streaming now on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Give it a listen and tell us what you think!
