Here are some observations from Tuesday’s practice. Don’t forget, you can hear my practice report every Tuesday and Thursday on-air at 90.7 WVUA-FM at 5:45 p.m. on The Student Section. You can listen on 90.7 in Tuscaloosa, anywhere online by clicking here, or on your mobile device with the TuneIn App.

– A rainy day in Tuscaloosa forced the Crimson Tide inside for Tuesday practice. The broadcast for Saturday currently stands with a high of 86 degrees and only a 10 percent chance of rain, so it does not look like rain will affect Alabama further.

– From a personnel standpoint, all available players practiced, as they did yesterday. The one exception remains: Nick Perry, the safety that is battling a shoulder injury. Perry played in both the Virginia Tech and Texas A&M games without recording a tackle before the shoudler injury kept him out of the Colorado State game.

– In the gameplan, the cornerbacks (and, to a smaller extent, safeties) were seen working on defending double-move routes in man coverage, especially ins-and-gos (aka sluggo) or the out-and-go (sometimes called a hitch-and-go). The routes are designed to get a defensive back to bite on the route fake from the wide receiver and throw over his head, making for a big play.
