The American flag fluttered at half-mast in a noticable breeze in front of Coleman Coliseum, a breeze the Alabama Crimson Tide avoided by practicing indoors on Wednesday. Here are a few observations from the final media practice viewing before the much-anticipated Texas A&M game, with video at the bottom, as always.

– Running back Jalston Fowler was seen practicing with some extra tape and padding on his left hand, similar to what tight end Brian Vogler was wearing earlier in the week. Head coach Nick Saban has a press conference scheduled for tonight, at which point he will address any injuries the team is currently working through. As a general rule, Saban does not waste time addressing injuries that do not affect a player’s activity in practice; meaning, if no players are mentioned, then Alabama should be at full availability for the Aggies.

– Speaking of running backs, I have been noticing all week that Kenyan Drake has been looking strong in individual drills. Saban said of Drake during the bye week that Drake is full-go after seemingly not traveling with the team to Atlanta for the Virginia Tech game. Whether he plays against the Aggies likely won’t be known until it happens or does not happen. Only time will tell.

– Finally, the offensive line continued a theme that has been quite apparent since the Virginia Tech game: a complete return to fundamentals. As opposed to working on pad level through directional blocks and other more advanced things, offensive line coach Mario Cristobal had the line work on hand activity and footwork in block engagement yet again, a drill that the line practiced numerous times during the bye week.
