The Life of Pablo is the seventh studio album released by American rapper Kanye West. Kanye began production of The Life of Pablo (then titled So Help Me God) during the summer of 2014, with the original lead single “All Day”.  On August 12, 2014 , an unfinished version of “All Day” leaked online forcing Kanye to finish the track and release it as a single, but not making it onto the album.

During the Adidas Yeezy ‘Season 1’ fashion show, Kanye premiered the first track from The Life of Pablo titled “Wolves”.  A collaborative track featuring Vic Mensa and Sia adding guest vocals, and production by Cashmere Cat with Sinjin Hawke.  The second track to be premiered off the new album was “Fade” at the Adidas Yeezy ‘Season 2’ fashion show. “Fade” features guest vocals from Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign.

On May 3, 2015, Kanye announced through his twitter that he had changed the name of his album from So Help Me God to SWISH.  Kanye followed up his tweet immediately with another saying “I might change it again but that’s the name now”.

January 8, 2016, Kanye West’s wife Kim Kardashian tweeted the next track off the new album titled “Real Friends” would be released as the first single as the return of Kanye’s GOOD Fridays.  Kanye has done weekly free giveaways leading up to the release of his albums since his fifth studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  That Friday, “Real Friends” was released on Kanye’s SoundCloud account accompanied by the album release date and a tittle of the following GOOD Fridays release, titled “No More Parties in LA” featuring Kendrick Lamar.

On January 26, 2016, Kanye tweeted from his personal account that he had changed the name of his album from SWISH to Waves.  He also shared a photo with the announcement of a notepad that he had been using to write the track list for Waves including signatures of almost all people who had helped in the collaborative process.

On February 4th, Kanye appeared on BigBoy’s Neigbourhood radio show stating he still hadn’t finalized an album title.  Yet again leaving his fans waiting and wondering what this self proclaimed masterpiece would be named.

On February 10, Kanye announced that his finalized seventh studio album’s title was The Life of Pablo.  Although unsure which famous Pablo is being referenced in the title;  Both Pablo Picasso and Pablo Esobar are being named as the frontrunners for his inspiration.  Pablo Picasso being one of the most misinterpreted artists to this day and Pablo Escobar, an economic icon, referred to as one of the moguls of his industry.  Both which Kanye West sees himself, and how he wants his legacy to be remembered.

The Life of Pablo is now available exclusively on TIDAL.
