Softball Hosts LSU in Pivotal SEC Series

The second-ranked Alabama softball team (35-1 overall, 12-1 SEC) looks to stay atop the SEC as it returns to the friendly confines of Rhoads Stadium this weekend to take on No. 21-ranked LSU (28-8 overall, 10-1 SEC) in a three game series. First pitch is set for 7 p.m., on Friday and will be carried on ESPNU, with Beth Mowins and Jessica Mendoza on the call. Saturday and Sunday’s games will start at 1:30 p.m., and 1 p.m., respectively. The Sunday contest will be shown on Fox Sports South with Dave Baker and Cheri Kempf calling the action.

The top ranked Alabama softball team used timely pitching and clutch hitting to score four unanswered runs to knock off UAB, 4-1, in the finale of the Easton Alabama Invite Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium. With the win the Crimson Tide improve to 17-0, tying the third best start in school history. UA swept through the tournament, going 4-0 on the weekend.

Basketball Fights Off Auburn, Wins 55-49

The Alabama men’s basketball team improved to 20-9 and 9-6 in Southeastern Conference play, winning its fourth game in a row and fifth straight over its in-state rival, with a 55-49 victory over the Auburn Tigers in front of 14,253 fans at Coleman Coliseum Wednesday.

Softball Closes Out Road Stretch with UAB Tonight

The No. 2 ranked Alabama softball team (7-0) will wrap up its road trip to start the season with a midweek contest against instate foe UAB (5-5). The Crimson Tide will meet the Blazers on Tuesday, Feb. 21, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m., at the UAB Softball Field. The game will be carried live in Tuscaloosa on WVUA-FM with Chad Haynie on the call.
