Following the amazing Riverside Rock concert that WVUA hosted, I felt this was the best topic for our last staff article of the 25-26 year. I hope you enjoy hearing about some of our favorite concerts!
Z:
My favorite live performance ever might be an easy guess for anyone who knows me or just enjoys reading my articles; it was 69 Love Songs Live at Carnegie Mellon University. Is this a slight cop out, being two days and over 6 hours of performance, definitely, but it’s still my favorite. Near the end of the 24-25 school year, I was lucky enough to go visit my friend, who goes to CMU, and see The Magnetics Fields play all 69 songs, in order. I could talk about how life-changing this show was for like hours, and I mean hours, but if you want to hear more about it, check out my article, Experiencing 69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields Live.
Mads:
My favorite live experience by far has to be when I saw Stray Kids in Atlanta. Each date of their MANIAC tour was its own unique experience because for each city, the boys (yes, all 8 of them) picked new songs for their own solo performances. I expected a lot of things from this, but I would’ve never assumed I’d be watching Jeongin sing Creep by Radiohead. Not that I have any complaints about it! I think this made my night even more special than watching 2 hours of choreography ever could have.

When I was 16, I saw The Cure Perform at the State Farm Arena. On top of an incredible set list, Robert Smith’s vocals sounded like a near-exact replica of the studio recordings. The band played a range of songs from iconic hits “Just Like Heaven” “Friday I’m in Love” and “Boys Don’t Cry” to some of my personal favorites “Lullaby” and “Pictures of You”. It was a great experience that drew me deeper into the band’s discography and solidified my love for The Cure’s music.
Lila:
My favorite live performance I’ve attended would have to be The Smile in 2023. The lighting on their set was incredible, and I can still remember certain points that grabbed my attention like the flashing blue during “Bending Hectic.” The entire show was extremely well done, and everyone who attended seemed to be more focused than any other concert I have attended. Hearing Thom Yorke’s vocals live was an insane moment in my life that I’ll never forget, and this show will pop out at the top of my list every time.
David:
My favorite concert experience was in 2020 when I saw Blue Öyster Cult at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. It stands out to me as my favorite because of the band’s incredibly iconic discography and the incredible talent on display. The guitar solos I saw at that concert remain the most impressive I’ve ever seen in person.
