Sorry we missed a week, we were Spring Breaking!
Pabgaf – Plant A Bug Grow A Flower
Genre: Midwest Emo, Screamo
RIYL: Daitro, Brownie Points, mydiarytoyou!
This is the second EP from the Massachusetts emo band and my personal favorite. To start, I love the name Pabgaf, not specifically for the actual name, but I really like the idea of an acronym self titled album, but that doesn’t really matter. What matters is the contents of this album, and where do I even begin. Is it the twinkly guitar riffs, the pained and deeply emotional vocals, or the freaking flute? Yes I said flute, this album is genuinely a treat for any screamo fan and I cannot recommend it enough!

Weight of the Truth – Footballhead
Genre: Alt Rock, Heavy Rock
RIYL: Superheaven, DIIV
This album feels like something you’d hear on a MySpace profile. It’s very reminiscent of the early 2000’s pop punk with a bit of a heavier influence. A very solid album overall if you’re a fan of the genre or their previous work.

Let’s Mutate – Bikini Mutants
Genre: Punk, Post-Punk, Techno
RIYL: Joy Division, The Talking Heads
I was not familiar with this band, like at all, as they were a super small post-punk band only active in the UK in the 80’s, who for whatever reason decided to digitally release this banger now. It’s an interesting mix of some of the punk and post-punk movements popular at the time with some really fun techno moments. If you like some of the more fun sounds that are occasionally squeezed out of post-punk bands like Joy Division, you will absolutely love this!

Picture Day – the fencesitters
Genre: Indie Rock, Indie Folk
RIYL: Good Kid, Holy Holy
This is just a decent indie rock record, not much more to say. This is the exact type of album I enjoyed listening to but will never go back to. Not a super memorable experience, but nothing wrong with that. If you like indie rock and want something new, this might be for you, but not me.
