Alabama once again has dominated the first half on offense. This game has been nothing short of perfect for both quarterback Blake Sims and wide receiver Amari Cooper. From the get go, these two have been tag teaming and running all over Southern Miss defense. Alabama began the game early with a 22 yard TD pass from Blake Sims to Amari Cooper and later tacked on another TD with a 4 yard run by Blake Sims. Sims has completed over 60% of his throws this evening with almost all heading in Cooper’s direction. Alabama’s defense has also be close to perfect allowing only 4 first downs and 2 field goals. While Southern Miss quarterback Nick Mullens has been able to throw the ball deep on Alabama’s corners, the Tide has been able to stop the Eagles with three 3 and outs.

Southern Mississippi hasn’t been at all disappointing, Nick Mullens came out of the gate looking fierce completing 5 passes leading towards an Eagles field goal. From then on, Mullens has impressed while the rest of the Eagles have stayed safe in the nest. If it wasn’t for a mix-up punt return, Southern Miss would of had four consecutive 3 and outs heading into the half. With the sheer blessing by Alabama running back Tyren Jones, Southern Miss was able to hit a 43 yard field goal heading into the half.
