The days off that come with the bye week worked wonders for the Crimson Tide’s injury report, as Saban detailed earlier in the day in his press conference (click here to see video of it). Monday’s practice viewing proved Saban to be correct, as Alabama was essentially at full force to begin preparations for the LSU Tigers.

Here are some notes and observations from practice, with video posted below.

– Cornerback Bradley Sylve (high ankle sprain) and running back Altee Tenpenny (turf toe) both came back full force from the bye week. Both were held out of Alabama’s last game with Tennessee and took the bye week to get better, slowly but surely.

– Alabama, as it has all season, has freshmen quarterbacks Parker McLeod and Cooper Bateman emulating the opponent’s starting quarterback, this time Zach Mettenberger. Luke Del Rio, however, the walk-on freshman, is not, as Saban said on his radio show a few weeks ago that Del Rio has been practicing as the third-string quarterback behind Blake Sims and seemingly ahead of Alec Morris.

– This was the first time we have seen Alabama taking measures to prepare for something resembling LSU’s offense, although that does not mean prior film study was not done. Defensive coordinator Kirby Smart had the inside linebackers working on defending power, downhill runs out of the I-formation, and was not shy about heavy contact in other drills.
