A few hours after Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s first press conference of Ole Miss week, the Crimson Tide took to the practice field. Here are some some injury updates and observations from practice.

– As Saban said, many of the players that were injured last week were in practice today. Cornerback Deion Belue was practicing fully, as was offensive lineman Anthony Steen. The same goes for wide receivers Amari Cooper and Kevin Norwood.

– Safety Nick Perry was in pads and a noncontact black jersey, staying with his position group and not going through reps. Saban will likely address his future status on Wednesday. Also, while on the defensive backs, Jarrick Williams was back after missing the Colorado State game with an eye injury.

– The outside linebacker dedicated several minutes to defending the read option, with outside linebackers coach Lance Burton emulating Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace. Keep in mind that this was just in the few minutes allowed for the media, which could mean that was all the read option work Alabama did (less likely) or that it was a key point to be honed and worked on throughout practice (more likely). You can see video of those drills below.
