According to a report by Rand Getlin and Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, former Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker is one of five former Southeastern Conference players, four former and one current, that received impermissible benefits.

“We have been aware of some of the allegations in today’s story and our compliance department was looking into this situation prior to being notified that this story was actually going to be published,” athletic director Bill Battle said in a statement released after the report. “Our review is ongoing. We diligently educate our student-athletes on maintaining compliance with NCAA rules, and will continue to do so.”

Fluker was named as well as former Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray, former Mississippi State defensive lineman Fletcher Cox, former Mississippi State wide receiver Chad Bumphis and current Tennessee defensive lineman Maurice Couch.

The report identified Luther Davis, Alabama defensive end from 2007-2010, as a key part of the investigation. Yahoo!’s report is based from financial and text message records believed to belong to Davis, detailing how several agents used Davis as a way to get to athletes while they are still in college.

One document obtained by Yahoo! details Fluker flying out of Pensacola, near his hometown of Foley, Ala., to Baltimore and back on Dec. 9, 2012, just says after the SEC Championship win over Georgia. Documents also list Fluker as the recipient of two separate money transfers collected at the Bruno’s on McFarland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa.

Another document obtained by Yahoo! lists an “E. Stinson” commonly believed to be current Alabama defensive lineman Ed Stinson. This itinerary, which lists stops made in Starkville, Miss., and Gulf Shores, Ala., also had three names connected to representation agencies for professional athletes.

One of those connections, Isaac Conner of Allegiant Athletic Agency, confirmed to Yahoo! that the trip was set up for Fluker and Stinson by Davis to meet the agencies, but that Stinson did not attend. On the trip, Fluker identified Davis as the one running his agent search, Yahoo! learned.

UPDATE: Aaron Suttles and Tommy Deas of The Tuscaloosa News reported late Wednesday night that Davis has been barred from the Alabama football facility and has been told to stay away from its players.
