TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama softball team will continue fall play when it host the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars in a weekend that will feature two games for the Crimson Tide. UA will first host Shelton State on Sunday, Oct. 9, at noon and then play the NPF All-Stars at 2 p.m. Both games will be played at Rhoads Stadium.

“This weekend is going to be really exciting,” Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy said. “You don’t get this kind of opportunity all of the time. I think that we will have to step it up a notch. We are really looking forward to this opportunity.”

The NPF squad is full of former All-Americans and Olympians and will feature former Tide greats Kelly Kretschman, Charlotte Morgan, Kelsi Dunne and Kelley Montalvo. Both teams will sign autographs after the conclusion of the final game on Sunday. The NPF will also be selling merchandise as well.

“This game will be a good measuring point for our hitters,” Murphy added. “Whoever we face will be very good. And then definitely for our pitchers, they will face obviously some of the best hitters that played Division I softball that are now playing in the pro league. It will be a good measuring stick for us to see where we are right now and what we need to work on.”

Tickets are available for $5 at the stadium with the proceeds going towards tornado relief for local elementary schools. The 2 p.m., contest will also air on WVUA 90.7 with Chad Haynie calling the action.

The team will also be signing autographs on Saturday at the quad and will receive their SEC Championship rings at the football game against Vanderbilt.
