Coach Nick Saban is preparing the Crimson Tide for its first scrimmage Saturday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team held its second two-a-day practice of camp on Friday with a 9:30 a.m. workout in full pads inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The Crimson Tide will return to the practice at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Saturday’s practice, the 11th of fall camp, will mark the Tide’s first scrimmage. Alabama is slated for a two-hour workout inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday that is closed to the public.

“The scrimmage on Saturday is really all about who can go out there and play with consistency, play winning football at their position, persevere and have the mental toughness and discipline to do their job,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “I think we need to find that out about a lot of players. Some players around here have done that in the past and it may not be as critical for them as it is for the young guys who have a chance to contribute to the team.”

One of the bright spots for the Crimson Tide in 2010 was the play of true freshman linebacker C.J. Mosley. The native of Theodore, Ala., made 67 tackles in his rookie season while playing in all 13 games and making three starts. Now entering his sophomore season, Mosley is taking his intensity level to a whole new level.

“Coming in as a freshman last year I didn’t know the defense well but the intensity that I’m playing with this year is different,” Mosley said on Thursday. “I was slow to the ball trying to learn everything last year, but now everything clicks. I try to be the best player I can be to help the defense and the team.”
