To give a donation call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

United Way Giving

The United Way of Central Alabama has established several ways to donate:

a) The Text-to-donate number is: Text TORNADO to 50555 to donate $10.
b) The website to donate is http://www.uwca.org/ .
c) The mailing address to donate is: UNITED WAY TORNADO RELIEF FUND, P.O. Box 320189, Birmingham, AL 35232.
d) The toll-free call-in number is 1-855-205HELP. That number will only be active from 5am EDT Wednesday 4 May through 3am EDT Thursday 5 May. Participants promoting the telethon and participating in it should make sure to let viewers/listeners know that the telethon call-in center will only be active during those hours.

Missing Students

Information about missing students should be directed to this email: uamissing@gmail.com. These are any students missing from Shelton Community College, Stillman College, or the University of Alabama.

Books for Bama

Dr. Lisa Scherff and a group of University of Alabama students from the College of Education are putting together a fundraising effort for the local schools and their students.  Books for Bama will take place on Wednesday, May 4th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. atThe Park at Manderson Landing (UA Riverwalk) on Jack Warner Parkway and Graves Hall, UA campus (corner of University and Colonial).

Tuscmoms.com and March of Dimes

The Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes was in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, May 1, 2011 to deliver baby supplies to tornado victims. We will continue to collect supplies and work with Tuscmoms.com to distribute the items in the community. For a list of drop off locations please visit the Tuscmom Website. Debris Removal

Local contractors who are willing to provide free debris removal should contact 205-248-5800. Also, Samaritian’s Purse is doing free debris removal and putting tarps on people’s homes. This is being coordinated at First Baptist Church and services are all free. The contact number is 205-345-7554.
